MFK announces first internship positions for Women in Energy
Millennium Foundation Kosovo (MFK) has opened the first 11 paid internship positions for women in the energy sector. These positions are part of 200 positions which will be announced in coming months for all women in their final year of study for BA degrees, or unemployed degree holders who have graduated within the past three years. Women in Energy Program supports all women who have studied STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) as well as other disciplines relevant to the energy sector, such as project management, marketing and finance, economics, law, information technology and other related fields important to the energy sector.
“The Internship Program for Women in Energy, implemented by MFK, is happening at a time when strengthening the energy sector is a top priority for Kosovo and many other countries in the world. Kosovo’s job market needs new human resources who are prepared for new challenges, and I strongly believe that this program will be of great support to young women especially, by getting them involved in the business community and in the energy sector in general” stated Lulzim Syla, Managing Partner of Elen, one of the companies which will be hosting women interns.
Energy Engineer, Engineer Researcher, Electrotechnical Engineer, Renewable Energy Engineer, are some of the announced internship positions. Visit Women in Energy Program Website, for more details on the application information.
Gender and Social Inclusion Specialist at MFK, Violeta Rexha, pointed out the WE program’s main objective of tackling the gender gap in engineering. “Women in Energy Program aims to empower women engineers by boosting their potential and preparing them for the job market in the energy sector” Mrs. Rexha added.
Earlier this year, Millennium Foundation Kosovo launched the call for expression of interest and hundreds of women have shown their interest to be part of Women in Energy Program. However, due to the pandemic situation, the WE Program has been prolonged until now. MFK will support the collaborating institutions and organizations by providing paid internships for beneficiary women for a 6 month period. First ten women who will benefit from the internship program, will start working from distance, until the situation gets back to normal.
This activity is part of Women in Energy Program, a $1.45 million activity, funded by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), aiming to increase women’s awareness of opportunities in the energy sector, provide scholarships, internships, and trainings in order to increase the pool of technically skilled women willing to work in energy-related jobs and build linkages between energy employers and qualified female candidates.
Millennium Foundation Kosovo (MFK) remains committed to initiating sustainable economic opportunities for women which contribute to the improvement of their status in the Kosovo labor market.
