Statement from Millennium Challenge Corporation regarding Implementation of Threshold Program by Millennium Foundation Kosovo

Millennium Foundation Kosovo, the implementing entity of the threshold program ratified between USA and Kosovo is notifying the public, our partners and other stakeholders, of the following official statement we have received from US federal agency Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), regarding the status of MCC’s economic development programs in Kosovo:

“The United States’ position regarding Kosovo’s tariffs against goods from Serbia is clear. Lifting these tariffs will improve Kosovo’s economy and help reduce poverty through economic growth. Until Kosovo’s tariff issue is resolved, MCC will pause implementation of the threshold program and development of the proposed compact program in Kosovo.

The decision to proceed with MCC programs rests on the actions of the Government of Kosovo. It is MCC’s hope that the Government of Kosovo chooses to resolve this tariff issue quickly in order to proceed with MCC programs. Once a resolution is reached, MCC will resume operations as appropriate.”

Following this statement, Millennium Foundation Kosovo has put all its projects, in energy and good governance, on pause. We’re in permanent contact with both MCC and Kosovo government to navigate through this situation and we hope to see resolution of the challenges in the immediate future. In the meantime, for our contractors, grants, scholarships and jobs applicants and recipients, and all the other interlocutors, please contact office@mfk.arra.al for urgent inquiries.
