Women entrepreneurs can now apply for grants through MFK’s Women in Energy Program
The Millennium Foundation Kosovo (MFK), with the support of MCC funding, is inviting women entrepreneurs to apply for grants through its Women in Energy Entrepreneurs (WEE) program. The WEE program will disburse three types of grants to help women entrepreneurs invest in energy efficiency measures to enable them to grow their businesses through a more efficient use of energy.
The call for applications is now open for two types of grants, medium and large grants. Smaller grants will be awarded in early 2021. The available grants are the following:
The SMART component grant is focused on investments ranging from €10,000 and up to €135,000, for women who own at least 51% of their businesses, with at least 5 employees, and which have been in business for at least 2 years. Applications for SMART grants are open until 31st January 2021.
The ADVANCED component grant is focused on investments of up to €10,000, for women-owned businesses (at least 51% women-owned) and individual entrepreneurs, without any restriction on the number of employees, which have been in business for at least 1 year. Applications for ADVANCED grants are open until 31st January 2021.
Through these grants, women entrepreneurs can invest in their businesses to upgrade various energy consuming equipment, which will enable them a more efficient use of energy, while using their savings in energy costs to grow their businesses. Investments may include production equipment (machinery, ovens, refrigeration, etc.), heating-ventilation-and-air conditioning (HVAC) equipment, auxiliary equipment (pumps, motors, compressors, etc.), building related energy efficiency measures (insulation, windows), renewable energy solutions (solar PV panels, solar water heaters, solar dryers, etc.), but also equipment used in energy audits and energy assessments.
A number of online workshops will be organized to help women entrepreneurs to better assess and understand the suitable solutions for a more efficient use of energy.
