40 new Internship Positions available all across Kosovo through ‘Women in Energy’

Millennium Foundation Kosovo (MFK) has launched another cohort of 40 new internship positions for women interested in joining the energy sector. This program includes internship opportunities for Kosovar women that are:

  • Current MA/MSc students,
  • Students in their final year of study for BA degrees,
  • Unemployed degree holders who have graduated within the past three years.

Ministry of Economy, Kosovo Energy Efficiency Fund, UNDP, and MFK among others, have joined in this new wave of internship opportunities secured through the Women in Energy Internship Program. Internship positions are available in most of Kosovo’s municipalities: Prishtina, Gjakova, Mitrovica, Skenderaj, Drenas, Prizren, Mamushe, Klina, Istogu, Peja, Rahovec, Malisheva, Ferizaj, Decan, Shtime, Vitia, Gjilan, Novobrdo, Kamenica, Podujeva, Vushtrri, Hani i Elezit, Ranillug, and Kacanik.

Visit the Women in Energy Internship Program Website for all open internships and more details on requirements and eligibility criteria.

Over 100 young women have already become part of the energy sector through WE internships. Importantly, several interns have converted their internship programs into full time jobs with regular contracts at their respective companies. Dozens more women will benefit from this program until June 2022, which aims to bridge the gap between employers and women with limited work experience who are nonetheless excited to join the energy sector in Kosovo.

The Internship Program is a component of the broader Women in Energy Program supported by the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC). With the Women in Energy Program, MFK and MCC strive to increase women’s awareness of opportunities in the energy sector and to provide practical skill development opportunities through scholarships, internships, and training. Ultimately, this will increase the pool of technically skilled women willing to work in energy-related jobs, and address the gender imbalance in the Kosovo energy sector.

Millennium Foundation Kosovo is an accountable entity responsible for implementation of the $49 million Threshold agreement, signed by the Republic of Kosovo and MCC in 2017. MFK’s mission statement calls for accelerating Kosovo’s transition to energy independence and good governance. The Kosovo Threshold Program addresses two key constraints to Kosovo’s economic growth: an unreliable supply of electricity; and real and perceived weakness in rule of law, government accountability and transparency.
