MFK meets Albania’s Education Minister to promote #WiSciKosovo

A delegation from Millennium Foundation Kosovo has held a meeting with Albania’s Minister of Youth and Education Ms Besa Shahini to discuss the newly established window of opportunities for girls from Albania to apply to Women in Science Summer Camp, to be held in Kosovo in August 2019.

 

Petrit Selimi, CEO of MFK, accompanied by Violeta Rexha, MFK’s Gender & Social Inclusion Specialist and Megi Pishtari, Grants Consultant gave Minister Shahini an overview of the MFK programs focusing on WiSciKosovo camp.

 

Women in Science camp is a great opportunity for girls age 15-17 from Kosovo, USA, Albania, Serbia, Montenegro and North Macedonia to be exposed to top-notch STEM lectures and training from top global corporations and organizations – stated Mr Selimi.

 

Minister Shahini welcomed the opportunity for girls from Albania to join the regional component of MFK’s activities and promised support in ensuring participation by girls from different strata of society.

 

Millennium Foundation Kosovo, together with U.S. Department of State, the Millennium Challenge Corporation, Girl Up Foundation, Intel Corporation and other partners, will organize the first international summer camp for girls focused on science, technology, arts, engineering and mathematics.

 

The WiSci Girls STEAM Camp will be held in Prishtina, Kosovo from August 18-31, 2019 for girls from the United States, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Serbia as well as Albania and Montenegro.

 

The camp will be hosted at the University of Pristina, where the participants will sleep in supervised dormitories, while the participants will take their daily STEAM activities in classrooms at Universiteti AAB, as well as specifically designated off-site excursions.
