WE Interns visit the Renovated Building in Novobërd supported by SEEK Investments

A group of young women from different communities, currently working as interns in the Municipality of Novobërd, paid a visit to the residential building which just got its renovation completed with energy efficiency measures.

All nine of them earned the opportunity for paid internships, as part of the Women in Energy Internship Program, and started their engagement with the Municipality of Novobërd, in March 2022. In their roles as energy officers, they are learning and developing themselves in the energy sector, including but not limited to conducting research, field reconnaissance, and other day to day activities involving energy-related projects.

MFK supported the Municipality of Novobërd with investments in apartment buildings retrofits, aiming at reducing the energy/electricity demand and related costs in the residential sector, as well as help employers from this municipality connect to qualified candidates, increase women’s awareness of opportunities in the energy sector and ultimately bridging the gap between employers and women with limited work experience who are nonetheless excited to join the energy sector in Kosovo.

Millennium Foundation Kosovo (MFK) is an accountable entity responsible for implementation of the $49 million Threshold agreement, signed by the Republic of Kosovo and MCC in 2017. MFK’s mission statement calls for accelerating Kosovo’s transition to energy independence and good governance. The Kosovo Threshold Program addresses two key constraints to Kosovo’s economic growth: an unreliable supply of electricity; and real and perceived weakness in rule of law, government accountability and transparency.
