Women in Energy Info Tour awoke a great interest in Gjilan
Millennium Foundation Kosovo (MFK) held the following informative session on the “Women in Energy” Scholarship Program in Gjilan.
Through this program, 25 Kosovo girls and women will be granted scholarships with full coverage of 2 year-studies and residence in Iowa and other accredited colleges in the US.
Mackenzie Walsh, MCC representative, at the opening of the informative session in Gjilan said that WE / Women in Energy Scholarship Program aims to create a new generation of women leaders in the energy sector.
Violeta Krasniqi Rexha, Gender and Social Inclusion Specialist at MFK, unveiled the multi-faceted MFK plan for advancing women in the energy sector. In addition to scholarships, MFK will also provide paid internships for students, grant programs for women entrepreneurs and, WiSci summer camp for teenage girls which is co-organized with the US Embassy in Prishtina and the INTEL corporation from America
Ms. Krasniqi Rexha said that “Women in Energy” Scholarship Program is the first activity of MFK and aims to encourage girls and women to be present in the energy sector. Meanwhile, for the upcoming grant program for women entrepreneurs, she said that this program aspires to help women reduce the cost of their entrepreneurial activity by reducing energy costs.
Finally, Gresa Statovci, Internship and Scholarship Program Consultant at MFK, continued the session by presenting in detail all information related to the application process for scholarships.
Participating girls and women expressed great interest in this educational opportunity at DMACC in Iowa, USA.
The informative tour is organized in cooperation with the non-governmental organization, ARDA-RDA.
